Although i have always felt a natural performer and i always performed the lead role in all school plays, music in the early days was limited to playing the oboe (yes really) and the recorder at school.

It was my christian upbringing that really taught me how to love music, and it was actually in the most unusual way.

My dad was a reverend in the church of the nazarene.and became a very capable and influencial gospel preacher, preaching each week about how his life had been changed by the infuence of god and how he was saved from a life that could have gone wrong and now he was on the straight and narrow. He even came and took school assembelys in his dog collar!

One of the places where he used to earn his living was in church every sunday, that meant travelling to many churches as he was asked to be a guest speaker.

He was at bible school in Birmingham for three years at BBI (Birmigham Bible Institute) and every week we would visit as a family a different Church. Birmingham was very muti-racial even in the late 70′s and early 80′s and in many of those churchs we used to be the only white family in all black churches.

Most people will know, church filled with black people singing and dancing every week meant only only thing… GOSPEL!!!

Beautiful soul filled gospel music, it eats away at your soul and takes over your whole body, even as a small boy this music cant help taking over your whole body, people dancing in the aisles playing drums, tambauines, singing to jesus (i think) but just having a great time.

I loved it.., i never fell asleep during these sevices like i did the others!

Well its Feb 16th 2011 and after contemplating for some time i have decided that its time i started to write a history blog of my exploits and capers of my journey in club land over that last 25 years… wow has it really been that long.

I am hoping that you guys will help me remember some of the nights that my jaded memory may have forgotten and help me paint the picture of fun and excitement with photos and even old flyers that you may still be hiding in your wardrobes.

If you have ever seen me dj or heard me play you will understand that my love of a good time is paramount and over the coming blogs i hope to capture that feeling.
